Where is Hutchinson Island?
Located on the east coast of Florida, between Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie, Hutchinson Island is composed of two barrier islands separated by the Fort Pierce Inlet. The island community features a stunning display of ecological diversity and provides a peaceful oasis for everyone who visits. Now that you’re all set for your trip to Turtle Reef Club, here are eight items we suggest packing for your exciting beach vacation.
1. Appropriate clothing
Get ready for warm weather and elevated humidity when you visit Turtle Reef Club on Hutchinson Island. From April through November, high temperatures rarely dip below 80˚ F, and during the winter months, daily high temperatures range from the mid to upper 70s. Therefore, it’s crucial to pack clothing that is light and breezy. Other beach vacation clothing essentials include flip flops or sandals and swimsuits.
2. Beach toys/games
If you’re bringing kids along on your visit to Turtle Reef, or if you’re a kid at heart, we advise packing a few items to keep your group entertained during beach days on Hutchinson Island. From sand buckets and shovels to frisbees and kites, bring along beach toys or games to keep the fun going.
3. Portable power bank
What’s worse than seeing the perfect, photogenic sunrise or sunset on the beach, only to find that your cell phone is dead? Since there are no power outlets on the sand, we suggest bringing along a portable power bank on your beach getaway. Don’t miss out on saving every special moment during your vacation.
4. Laundry bags
The only negative side of visiting the beach is all the sand left over after you leave. Pack extra plastic or laundry bags to transport your sandy clothes and beach items back to the resort. Take your items straight to one of the laundry facilities at Turtle Reef Club to avoid getting sand all over your room or vehicle.
5. Waterproof/underwater camera
Whether you’re planning to swim or not, having a waterproof camera with you on your beach trip is a smart move. Not only can you capture stunning underwater stills, but you can also rest assured that your camera is safe just in case you drop it in the pool or ocean. Save your regular camera for other activities, and use a waterproof device when you’re around bodies of water.
6. Beach towels
A regular bathroom towel just won’t cut it! Make sure you bring along beach towels anytime you travel to an oceanfront resort. Beach towels are generally larger than bath towels, and they make for exceptional sunbathing mats. You can also request a beach towel at the Turtle Reef Club!
7. Cooler/insulated bag
Be sure to pack a cooler or insulated bag so you can stay hydrated all day long. You can even pack snacks to keep the little ones happy. Just be sure to dispose of any garbage appropriately, as Jensen Beach and Hutchinson Island are home to delicate ecosystems.
8. Sunscreen
Finally, you’ll certainly want to pack a decent sunscreen to keep you protected from harmful ultraviolet rays. Remember to apply as often as needed, especially when going in and out of the water.
